Are you a die-hard vinyl fan? Why do you prefer records over CDs? CDs over records? Have you even listened to a record? Tell me about your favorite format and why.
I love ALL formats of music. My music collection is probably my prized possession (outside of one stuffed animal from a dead relative). It consists of Albums, cassettes, CDs and digital stuff. Seriously. One of my goals in life is to own this badass 8-track player in the shape of a bomb detonator...and then start collecting 8-tracks as well. I used to work in a music store, so I own more CDs than anything else...but there are certain albums that I also own on vinyl, as well. Then there's tons of old shit that I refuse to buy, again, because I have it on my parents' records. I figure eventually I'll buy one of those handy-dandy players that converts it all to MP3s, so it will be more readily available. But, for now, I'm fine listening to Neil Young on just vinyl (or on Spotify, for free). -Deirdre
I never got interested in vinyl. The only experience I have with vinyl is Simon Pegg throwing records at zombies in Shawn of the Dead. I only used CDs for the longest time because it seemed like there was a CD player everywhere, in the house, car, or even portable so they could be heard anywhere. This used to be my favorite format because skipping tracks and rewinding was so easy. Then came the Mp3/IPod era. I tried to hold off as long as I could but I eventually caved for an IPod Touch. Since then, CDs might as well be used as coasters for me. The Ipod simplifies my playlists and allows me to create tons of them. I no longer have to say that I forgot to burn a song on a CD because it will be on my IPod waiting. My favorite part of the digital listening is hitting shuffle and letting a random song choice out of thousands play. It lets me listen to songs I sometimes skip over or have not heard in quite a while. Digital is my favorite format because of the ability to carry thousands of songs on a small device and the ease of navigating the songs and playlists.
